Honoring Luca
We are finding meaningful ways to carry Luca’s light forward. Below are just a few of the ways we are honoring his memory — with love, connection, and purpose.
Memorial Trees
At Home
A memorial tree was planted in our yard — a quiet, personal place where we can reflect, remember, and feel close to Luca every day.

At Graydon Park – Ridgewood, NJ
Graydon Park, just a few minutes from our home, is where Luca felt completely at ease — splashing in the spring-fed pool, digging in the sand, and curiously wandering toward other kids’ beach toys.
A tree will be planted there in his memory in August — for his little brother and all children to enjoy.
Luca’s tree will be located along Linwood Avenue near Maple Avenue (the second tree from the intersection).
Resting Place
Valleau Cemetery - Ridgewood, NJ
Luca was buried 1 mile from home. We are currently working on a headstone, but his grave is marked by a temporary plaque. We invite anyone to visit.

Support SUDC Research
One of the most impactful ways to honor Luca is to support research into Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood (SUDC).
Your donation can help provide answers — and hope — for other families.

Melissa and Greg are collecting funds that will be distributed to various research organizations: donate here.

Donations can also be made in Luca's name directly to the SUDC Foundation, the SUDC Registry and Research Cooperative (NYU Langone), or the Robert's Foundation (Boston Children's Hospital).
Luca’s Obituary
Luca brought immeasurable joy, curiosity, and light to our lives in his too-short time here.
His spirit lives on in the memories we cherish and the love he sparked in everyone he met.
We invite you to read his obituary and comments from friends and teachers.
